On this significant occasion of Nigeria’s Independence Day, I extend my heartfelt greetings to each of you. Today, we not only celebrate the freedom of our nation but also reflect on our shared responsibilities as citizens and human resource professionals in shaping a brighter future for Nigeria.
As we commemorate our independence, let us ponder: what does true freedom mean for us as HR practitioners? Are we merely managing resources, or are we champions of change, fostering environments where individuals can thrive? As Mahatma Gandhi wisely stated, “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” Are we embracing this philosophy in our workplaces?
Our role as HR professionals transcends the mere administration of policies; we are pivotal in nurturing talent, promoting inclusivity and advocating for the well-being of our workforce. In the words of the renowned Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, “We teach people how to treat us.” How are we educating our organisations about the value of every individual within them?
In this spirit of reflection and action, I invite you to join me at the 56th International Conference and Exhibition (ICE), scheduled for October 14th to 17th, 2024, in Abuja. This year’s theme, “Managing People and Businesses for Resilience,” resonates deeply with our mission to create sustainable workplaces that can withstand the challenges of our time.
Let us come together to share knowledge, inspire one another, and continue our mission of advancing the practice of people management in Nigeria. Your participation is crucial, as we explore innovative solutions and strategies to navigate the evolving landscape of human resource management.
Together, let us embrace our independence and work towards a more prosperous Nigeria.
Wishing you all a joyful Independence Day!
Long live CIPM!
Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!
CIPM…we deliver value through people.
