A veteran of 4 mergers, Uche had an early tutelage at the Industrial Court in Kenya, Court of Co-Determination, Mainz (Germany) and Commission on Conciliation and Arbitration (SA) under the auspices of the ILO as part of career exposure in the area of judicial globalization. In 2005 he was appointed into the Industrial Arbitration Panel (IAP) where for 8 years he presided over Tribunals in Lagos.

Prior to this appointment, Uche worked for over a decade in GlaxoSmithKline Plc where, as Human Resources Director & Company Secretary – West & Central Africa Region – he played pivotal roles in the company’s successful change and turn-around programmes. In particular, he led the Legal and HR integration of Smithkline Beecham with Sterling Health, and Smithkline Beecham with GlaxoWellcome, consequent upon the respective mergers in Nigeria and other countries in the Region.

Before joining GlaxoSmithKline, Uche was Director, Industrial Relations and Legal Services of the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA), where in about a decade and half, he gained international HR experience through secondment and fellowships by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) to organizations in the USA, UK, Ireland, Germany, Brazil, Norway, Kenya and Ghana. During this time, Uche was also a Board Member of the National Salaries and Wages Commission and National Labor Advisory Council – the two Statutory Policy Organs in the area of Labour and Social Policy. Uche is a fellow of the International Institute for Labour Studies (Geneva) of the ILO.

Currently a Senior fellow and Head of Department of Organisational Behaviour & Human Resources Management at Lagos Business School, he brings to the classroom over four decades of local and international experience in human resource management, negotiation and arbitration. He also teaches employment law and Strategic Human Resource Management

His research interest is in the area of peace and conflict resolution, and he speaks regularly at conferences on this topic. He has also written a number of cases on negotiation, human resource practices and law, which are used for class discussion.
