Buky Olukoga serves as the HR Director at British American Tobacco (BAT) for the West and Central Africa Area. In this role, she leads the People Strategy, ensuring that business goals are achieved with integrity. She is a seasoned HR professional with over 18 years of experience, spanning the Telecoms, Banking, and Manufacturing industries. Her career journey includes roles such as Facilities Manager, HR Shared Services Manager, Payroll Manager, Talent & Organizational Effectiveness Manager, and HR Business Partner for Sub-Sahara Africa.
She is a strategic thinker with a proven track record of aligning HR strategies with business objectives to drive organizational success. She is a passionate advocate for sustainable decision making and DE&I, inspiring others to foster an enabling environment. Buky has led numerous key initiatives, including employee resource groups and mentoring programs, which have accelerated the careers of underrepresented groups, enhanced employee engagement, and strengthened the employer brand. Her leadership and dedication earned her the inaugural BAT WCA Woman of the Year Award and recognition as a Global Empower Executive Role Model.
Buky’s dynamic personality is rooted in her pedigree and educational background. She is completing her MBA and holds a Master’s degree in Industrial and Labour Relations from the University of Lagos, and a Bachelor of Science degree from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. She is a member of the CIPMN and the Nigeria-Britain Association.
In her personal time, Buky enjoys spending quality moments with loved ones and reading medieval fiction. She is happily married to her long-time friend.
