The 57th CIPM Induction Ceremony: Honouring HR Excellence and Innovation

The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) proudly held its 57th Induction Ceremony, a momentous event that brought together accomplished HR professionals from across the country. Themed “Strategic Decision-Making Through People Analytics,” the ceremony emphasised the importance of leveraging data and analytics to drive effective decision-making in the human resources sector.

Delivering the keynote address, Mr. Dotun Adako, FCIPM, the Group Head of Human Resources at BUA Group, shared profound insights into the pivotal role people analytics plays in the modern business landscape. He highlighted how data-driven HR practices can shape strategic decisions that lead to business resilience and growth.

Among the highlights of the ceremony was the recognition and celebration of top-performing students in the June 2024 examination diet. Mr. Oladimeji Abdul-Warith Opeyemi was honoured as the Best Graduating Student in Advanced Human Resource Management II and Nigeria Labour Law, while Miss Oluomoniyi Simisola Comfort emerged as the Best Graduating Student in Labour Market Analysis. Miss Raimot Oreoluwa Lemose was recognised as the Best Graduating Student in Advanced Employee Relations.

The Overall Best Graduating Student of the June 2024 Examination Diet was Mr. Godwin Aondoungwa Iorhom, who received a cash prize of ₦250,000, courtesy of Bezaleel Consulting, along with an all-expense-paid trip to attend the 56th International Conference and Exhibition (ICE)—the largest HR event in Africa. The conference, themed “Managing People and Businesses for Resilience,” is scheduled to take place in Abuja from 14th to 17th October 2024.

The President and Chairman of the Governing Council of CIPM, Mallam Ahmed Ladan Gobir, FCIPM, praised the inductees, who were admitted through both the Examination and HR Practitioners Route, for their commitment to professional excellence, stating:

“As you take this next step in your HR journey, remember that continuous learning, ethical practice, and strategic insight are the hallmarks of impactful HR leadership. We are proud to see you join the CIPM family, and we are confident that you will lead with integrity and innovation.”

Speaking on his achievement, the Overall Best Graduating Student, Mr. Godwin Aondoungwa Iorhom, expressed gratitude for the recognition and support, saying:

“I am truly honoured to receive this award. CIPM has equipped me with the tools to make a real difference in the field of HR, and I am excited to continue growing and contributing to the profession. I look forward to attending ICE 2024 and gaining more insights from industry leaders.”

The 57th Induction Ceremony was a resounding success, marking another milestone in the Institute’s efforts to elevate HR practices in Nigeria and beyond. With this cohort of new inductees, CIPM continues to strengthen its position as the apex and only recognised professional body for the regulation of human resource management in Nigeria.
