General Information

Q1: When will the campaign period take place?

A: Campaigns will run from May 8 to May 22, 2026, and will end at 4:00 PM (WAT) on May 22, 2026

Q2: When does voting start and end?

A: E-voting begins on May 22, 2026, at 6:00 PM (WAT) and closes on June 5, 2026, at 9:00 AM (WAT).

Q3: Who is eligible to contest?

A: Only financial members (Associate, Member and Fellow) with:

  • Valid HRPL
  • Paid-up 2026 subscription

Q4: Who is eligible to vote?

A: Only financial members (Associate, Member and Fellow) with active subscriptions paid up to 2025.

Q5: Can anyone nominate more than one candidate?

A: No. Each member can nominate only one candidate and cannot nominate themselves.

Q6: What are the key positions open for election?

A:

  •  President and Chairman of the Governing Council
  • Vice President
  • National Treasurer
  •  5 Elected Council Members

Q7: Is the election open to everyone?

A: Yes. The election is open to all financially active members of the Institute. It is your professional right to vote, nominate and be nominated, provided you meet the eligibility criteria

Q8: Is nomination restricted to a specific group of people?

A: No. Nomination is not restricted to any select group. Any member of the Institute can nominate and be nominated as long as they have an active HRPL and have paid their subscriptions up to 2026

Q9: Do I need to personally know someone before I nominate them or before they nominate me?

A: No, you do not need to. Any member can nominate any eligible member. It is the responsibility of the nominee to accept or reject the nomination via the nomination portal

Q10: How do I confirm if the person I want to nominate is eligible?

A: Visit the voting portal and enter the member’s full name or membership ID: If their name appears →they are eligible

If their name does not appear → they are not eligible

Q11: Where do I nominate a candidate?

A: You can nominate a candidate via the voting portal. Please click the link below to access the portal: https://evoting.cipmnigeria.org/

Q12: Will there be physical nomination?

A: No. Nominations are conducted online only through the voting portal.

Q13: How do I know if I am eligible to vote?

Q14: If my name does not appear on the eligibility list to vote, can I still rectify it by paying my subscriptions?

A: Yes, you can. Members are encouraged to pay their subscriptions via the Members portal.

Please note that manual (ofline) payments for subscriptions will close at 8:00 AM (WAT) on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. After this, payments can only be made online via the Members’ portal, which updates automatically.

Q15: Can offline payments affect voting eligibility?

A: Yes. Ofline payments may not reflect during voting. Members are advised to pay online through the portal for instant updates.

Q16: Is there anything I need to do as a voter?

A: Yes. Please ensure your email address and phone number are updated on the members portal so you can receive your voting token during the voting period

Q17: When will nomination of Candidates end?

A: Nominations will end on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at 11:00 PM (WAT).

Q18: Are contestants allowed to campaign before May 8?

A: No. Campaigning before the official start date is prohibited.

Q19: Can campaigns continue during voting?

A: No. All campaign activities must end before voting begins

Q20: What campaign platforms are allowed?

A: Social media, E-flyers, Emails & text messages, Branch meetings and Personal networks.

Q21: What are examples of prohibited campaign practices?

A: The election process is overseen by the Electoral Committee, which reports to the Governing Council. The Committee consists of highly reputable Fellows and Members of the Institute, with the Registrar/Chief Executive serving as the Secretary.

  • Vote buying or inducement
  • Defamation of other candidates     
  • Use of confidential member data
  • Religious, ethnic, or discriminatory messaging
  • Misinformation or fake endorsements

Q22: Will there be a debate?

A: Yes. A Virtual Election Debate will hold from May 21–22, 2026.

Q23: How can members access candidates’ manifestos?

A: Manifestos will be shared via:

  • Email
  • Website
  • WhatsApp
  • Social media platforms.

Q24: What happens if a candidate violates the rules?

A: Sanctions may include:

  • Warning
  •  
  • Disqualification
  •  
  • Suspension from future elections

Q25: How is voting conducted?

A: Voting will be done electronically (e-voting) via the official platform.

Q26: What ensures the integrity of the voting process?

A: The e-voting platform will be independently audited before use

Q27: Are there benefits for attending the AGM and voting?

A: Yes. Participation in voting and AGM attendance earns you 5 points towards your membership upgrade.

Q31: Who handles complaints or election issues? 

A: All complaints should be directed to the Electoral Committee via email at: election@cipmnigeria.org.

Q32:  Is attending the Annual General Meeting (AGM) compulsory?

A: Yes. The AGM is compulsory for all financial members, and only financial members are eligible to attend. Please ensure your subscriptions are up to date.

Q33: Are there benefits for attending the AGM and voting?

A: Yes. Participation in voting and AGM attendance earns you 5 points towards your membership upgrade.

Q34: Where will the AGM take place?

A: The AGM will hold on Friday, June 5, 2026, at 10:00 AM (WAT) at CIPM House, 1 CIPM Avenue, Off Obafemi Awolowo Way, Opposite Lagos State Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria, as a hybrid event with both physical and virtual attendance options

Q35: Do I need to fill a form to attend physically?

A: Yes. A physical attendance form will be made available soon, and members are expected to complete it to attend in person.

Q36: Will there be an option for virtual attendance?

A: Yes. A Zoom link will be shared ahead of the AGM for members who wish to attend virtually.
