CIPM Introduces Honorary Membership

Criteria For Honorary Membership Award

  1. Education     
    1. Bachelor’s degree/Higher National Diploma or its equivalent in any discipline (Minimum education requirement)       

      B. Demonstrate a remarkable contribution to the Human Resource Management practice.

  • Demonstrate leadership in enhancing public understanding of the importance of Human Capital Development.Promotion of the objectives of CIPM in numerous capacities.
  • Initiatives that have led to improvements in people management and the development of human resources in the workplace
  • Programs, Book writing, journal publication or general career contributions that have enhanced the responsiveness and effectiveness of people management and Industrial Relations.

C. Positions for consideration

Individuals occupying the following positions who have demonstrated a commitment to human capital development.

  • MDs/CEOs of blue-chip organizations
    • Heads of Military/Paramilitary
    • Reputable Traditional rulers
    • Ministers/State/Commissioners
    • Secretary to the government of the Federation/State
    • Chairmen of the committee on Labour or establishment matters in the national or state assembly.
    • Chairmen of committees in the National or state assembly who have demonstrated a commitment to human capital development.
    • Chancellors/Vice Chancellors/Rectors/Provosts of Tertiary Institutions
    • Chief Executives of government parastatals
    • Chairman of the board, Nigeria Institute of Labour Studies
    • Nigeria and Foreign Diplomats
    • MDs/CEO of reputable Non-Governmental Organizations
    • Heads of reputable religious institutions.

D.  Other criteria/requirements

  • Nominees shall be nominated for this route of membership by two financial CIPM members through the honorary nomination form and endorsed by an existing Council member or a Past President, or a member of the current Leadership Team. Anyone nominating/endorsing must be in good financial standing/have paid their membership subscription to date.
    • The honorary membership shall NOT be accessible to existing CIPM members.
    • Recommendations for Honorary Membership shall be reviewed and assessed by the Membership Committee.
    • All the criteria for honorary membership MUST be met for a nominee to be successful.
    • The Membership Committee shall recommend the names of successful nominees to Leadership for onward approval by the Governing Council
    • The honorary membership shall be awarded at the International Conference and Exhibition and celebrated on all CIPM social media platforms.
    • A successful candidate shall be referred to as an ‘Honorary Member’ and is entitled to use the CIPM designatory initials but with a “H” prefix, i.e., HCIPM.
    • Honorary CIPM members are non-annual dues-paying members; as such, they cannot vote or be voted for.
    • Honorary membership award shall be awarded to a maximum of ten (10) Nominees per year.
    • Honorary members are bound by the same code of conduct and disciplinary procedures as regular members and may face sanctions such as suspension or expulsion for serious offenses
    • CIPM members nominating a nominee shall complete the nomination form for the Honorary Membership Award.
