CIPM Reaffirms Commitment to Disability Inclusion at the Launch of the National Access to Work Scheme Framework

The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) joined government agencies and leading private-sector organisations at the official launch of the Framework for the National Access to Work Scheme for Persons with Disabilities, held on Wednesday, 29 January 2025, at NECA House, Lagos.

Representing the Registrar/Chief Executive, Ms. Oluwatoyin Naiwo, FCIPM, Chartered FCIPD, the Institute’s Head of Advocacy & Stakeholder Relations delivered CIPM’s goodwill message and reiterated the Institute’s unwavering commitment to advancing workplace diversity, equity, and inclusion in Nigeria.

In his remarks, he highlighted:

  • CIPM’s pioneering role in disability inclusion through its strategic partnership with Sightsavers, which led to the establishment of the Nigeria Business Disability Network (NBDN)—a platform championing inclusive employment practices in the private sector.
  • The significant impact of CIPM’s advocacy efforts in strengthening HR policies and encouraging organisations to adopt inclusive talent practices.
  • CIPM’s dedication to “walking the talk” on inclusion, demonstrated by the Institute’s own recruitment and empowerment of employees with disabilities.
  • Alignment of these efforts with the Institute’s SOAR Agenda, which emphasises building inclusive, future-ready workplaces across Nigeria.

CIPM commended the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) and its partners for launching the Access to Work Scheme, describing it as a major milestone in removing workplace barriers and enabling equal employment opportunities for Persons with Disabilities.

The Institute reaffirmed its readiness to continue partnering with stakeholders to deepen awareness, strengthen policy implementation, and support organisations in creating environments where every individual can participate and thrive.
