CIPM Signs Strategic MOU with University of Ilorin to Advance People Management Excellence

The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) has formally entered into a strategic partnership with the University of Ilorin following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), marking a significant step toward strengthening the bridge between academia and professional practice in Nigeria.

The MOU was signed at CIPM House in Lagos during a high-level visit by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, who was warmly received by the President and Chairman of the Governing Council of CIPM, Mallam Ahmed Ladan Gobir, FCIPM, fnli.

Described as a defining moment, the partnership underscores a shared vision to drive capacity building, enhance professional standards and position Nigeria for the future of work through structured collaboration between academic institutions and industry.

Speaking at the event, the CIPM President highlighted the Institute’s commitment to developing future-ready professionals and fostering stronger linkages between theory and practice. The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin also emphasized the importance of aligning academic learning with industry expectations to produce graduates equipped for global relevance.

As part of the visit, the CIPM President led the Vice Chancellor on a tour of the Institute, showcasing its milestones and celebrating the contributions of past leaders who have shaped CIPM into the Institute of Choice for People Management.

In a related development, CIPM continues to strengthen its professional community, having recently inducted a total of 163 new members into its prestigious body at its 69th Induction Ceremony held in Ilorin, Nigeria. This includes 26 individuals inducted through the Executive Route and 137 through the Practitioner Route, further reinforcing the Institute’s commitment to expanding its membership base and promoting professional excellence across all levels.

The event was attended by key stakeholders from both institutions, including the Vice President of CIPM, the Registrar/Chief Executive, members of the Governing Council, management and staff of CIPM, as well as representatives from the University of Ilorin, including the Registrar and other senior officials.

This partnership is expected to deliver tangible outcomes, including enhanced professional certification opportunities for students and academia, improved HR capacity development, and stronger academia–industry collaboration.

More than a formal agreement, the CIPM–University of Ilorin partnership represents a forward-thinking movement to shape minds early, build capacity and redefine the future of work in Nigeria and beyond.
