The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) recently held its first-ever induction ceremony in Abuja, marking a historic moment for the Institute and the nation’s capital. The landmark event saw the induction of 252 new members through both the HR Practitioners’ and Executive routes, drawing professionals from across the private and public sectors.

Notable inductees hailed from prestigious organisations such as the Nigerian Defence College, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dangote Cement, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) amongst others. This diverse group of professionals reflects the increasing recognition of the vital role that Human Resource Management plays in driving organisational success in Nigeria.
Delivering his keynote address, Mallam Ahmed Ladan Gobir, FCIPM, President and Chairman of the Governing Council of CIPM, praised the resilience and dedication of the inductees amidst the current economic challenges.
“In times of economic turbulence, it is not the strongest who survive, but those with unwavering focus and determination who rise above the challenges. Today, we celebrate 252 inductees who, in the face of economic hardship, have chosen to stay focused on their career growth and sustainability. They are now ready to influence organisational growth with their Human Resource expertise,” he said.
Mallam Gobir also highlighted the significance of this ceremony, being the first of its kind in Abuja, and assured the inductees that their decision to align with CIPM is a lifelong investment. He emphasised that membership in CIPM represents a commitment to excellence in People Management, backed by law, and that the new members now bear the responsibility to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.
Guest Speaker, Dr. Rosaline U. Etukudo-Mordi, delivered a thought-provoking lecture on the theme ‘Leading Through the Woods: How HR Can Help Organisations Navigate Economic Turbulence.’ Drawing on over 24 years of experience, she provided valuable insights into how HR professionals can guide organisations through volatile economic conditions.

In challenging times, it’s not just about surviving but thriving with innovative strategies and people-focused solutions.
