The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) achieved another historic milestone with the official inauguration of its USA Branch on Saturday, December 14, 2024. The virtual event, attended by over 200 participants from around the world, marked a significant expansion of CIPM’s mission to promote excellence in Human Resource Management globally.
Themed “Networking & Collaboration: Key to Professional Development,” the event featured an insightful keynote address by Dr. Steve Ojeh, FCIPM, who shared his thoughts on the power of collaboration. He noted, “Collaboration is the lifeblood of innovation. By working together, we unlock opportunities and achieve growth far beyond individual efforts.”
In his address, the President and Chairman of the Governing Council, Mallam Ahmed Ladan Gobir, FCIPM, described the event as a momentous occasion in the Institute’s journey of global transformation. “It is a bright and historic day as we plant the CIPM flag on American soil, marking a new chapter of global impact, collaboration, and excellence. Today, CIPM stands proudly on the global stage, connecting continents and redefining HR practices for a better future,” said Mallam Ahmed.
The event also saw the announcement of the newly elected executives who will spearhead the activities of the CIPM USA Branch. They include:
- Chairman: Pastor Gabriel Babatunde Olukitibi, FCIPM
- Vice Chairman: Babatola Arogundade, ACIPM
- Secretary: Stanley Peter Anukwuocha, ACIPM
- Assistant Secretary: Ihuaku Ugwu, ACIPM
- Financial Secretary: Folorunso O. Adewale-Armour, ACIPM
- Treasurer: Margaret Alabi, ACIPM
- Public Relations Officer: Olusanu Abayomi, ACIPM
The President emphasised the importance of collaboration in advancing the HR profession, stating:
“The future of HR lies in partnerships, not just policies. The CIPM USA Branch is poised to be a beacon of excellence, fostering connections that will elevate the HR profession globally.”
The CIPM USA Branch inauguration follows a series of groundbreaking achievements for the Institute this year, including mutual membership recognition with CIPD in the UK, a landmark induction ceremony in Abuja, and representation on the board of the African Human Resources Confederation. With this expansion, CIPM now has a presence in key regions worldwide, including Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
As the event concluded, participants from different continents reaffirmed their commitment to the Institute’s mission of advancing HR practices and celebrated this historic step in CIPM’s journey toward becoming the foremost HR body globally.
