CIPM and CPHR Canada Sign Landmark Mutual Recognition Agreement

The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM) and CPHR Canada have officially signed a Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA), marking a significant milestone in the global HR landscape. This partnership will provide members of both institutes with reciprocal benefits, enhanced professional development opportunities, and expanded global career prospects

Speaking at the signing, the President and Chairman of the Governing Council of CIPM, Mallam Ahmed Ladan Gobir, FCIPM, fnli, stated:

“Today, we do not just sign an agreement; we are charting a bold new course for the future of human resource management on the world stage. This MOU signifies a shared commitment to collaboration, professional excellence, and expanding opportunities for HR professionals globally. With this partnership, we are breaking barriers and reinforcing our place as trailblazers in the global HR ecosystem.”

The President and CEO of CPHR Canada, Anthony Ariganello, expressed his excitement about the agreement, stating:

“I am thrilled about this partnership and the opportunities it creates for HR professionals in both Canada and Nigeria. This is a landmark achievement, and we will communicate this exciting development with our members. The world has no boundaries—only physical ones—and this collaboration is a testament to our shared commitment to advancing the HR profession.

Through this partnership, members of CIPM and CPHR Canada will be able to:

  • Leverage reciprocal benefits through mutual recognition of membership.
  • Access dual membership opportunities.
  • Stay at the cutting edge of their practice with exclusive information, data, and resources.
  • Enhance their global profile and career prospects through bespoke professional development programs (e.g., workshops, seminars, conferences).
  • Enjoy discounted programs and targeted content as mutually agreed by both institutions.

The Immediate Past President of CIPM, Mr. Olusegun Mojeed, FCIPM, fnli, reflected on the journey that began in 2021, aimed at positioning CIPM as a global leader in HR. He expressed excitement about the partnership and extended gratitude to Anthony Ariganello, who also serves as the Chairman of the Board at the World Federation of People Management Associations (WFPMA). “There is still more ground to cover, and Europe is the next frontier,” he added.

The Chairman of the CIPM Canada Branch, Professor Sam Bodunrin, MCIPM, shared his enthusiasm for witnessing the signing of the MOU. He highlighted that the agreement will strengthen global HR efforts, foster knowledge exchange, and uphold ethical HR practices. Pastor Gabriel Olukitibi, FCIPM, Chairman of the CIPM USA Branch, echoed this sentiment, affirming that discussions for similar agreements in the USA have already commenced.

CPHR Canada Board Member, Lana Adeleye-Olusae, described the agreement as a historic achievement that will address the challenges Nigerian HR professionals face when transitioning to Canada. “This partnership eliminates the need for CIPM members to start from scratch upon relocating. Kudos to CIPM for earning global recognition and respect,” he remarked.

Ariganello noted his surprise at the strong turnout for the event, expressing his excitement about the presence of numerous HR professionals. He emphasized that the collaboration would better equip members of CPHR Canada to meet today’s HR challenges and acknowledged the instrumental role played by CIPM Canada in fostering the partnership.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks from the National Treasurer of CIPM, Mrs. Ogochukwu Egbuonu, FCIPM, who commended all stakeholders for their commitment to advancing the HR profession globally.
