CIPM Strengthens Partnership with Lagos State Civil Service Commission

The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM), led by its President and Chairman of the Governing Council, Mallam Ahmed Ladan Gobir, FCIPM, fnli, paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman, Lagos State Civil Service Commission, Mrs. Boladele Dapo-Thomas, on Thursday, 9th October 2025, at the Commission’s office in Lagos.

In his remarks, Mallam Gobir commended the Lagos State Civil Service Commission for its outstanding leadership and commitment to public service excellence. He described Lagos State as “a state that not only sets the pace but defines the pace,” while reaffirming CIPM’s readiness to continue supporting the State in building a more professional, future-ready workforce.

He extended a warm invitation to the Commission and other Lagos State MDAs to participate in the upcoming 57th International Conference and Exhibition (ICE) of the Institute — Africa’s largest HR gathering — scheduled for October 27–30, 2025 in Abuja, themed “Reimagining the New World of Work.”

Mallam Gobir also emphasised the importance of professional certification and capacity building for public servants, encouraging the Commission to take advantage of the newly launched CIPM HR Leadership Academy and its Specialist Certification Programmes, designed to enhance competence and leadership excellence across the public sector.

In her response, Mrs. Boladele Dapo-Thomas, Chairman of the Lagos State Civil Service Commission, commended CIPM for its invaluable role in elevating HR practice and empowering public servants across Nigeria. She applauded the Institute’s continuous innovation, professionalism, and advocacy for human capital excellence, assuring the President of the Commission’s continued collaboration with the Institute.

She noted that the partnership between CIPM and the Lagos State Civil Service Commission has yielded remarkable outcomes over the years, and pledged sustained engagement to deepen the professionalisation of the State’s workforce.

The visit further reinforced the shared vision of both institutions — to advance effective people management, institutional excellence, and leadership capacity in Nigeria’s public service.
