CIPM – Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD, UK) Membership Agreement
On the 17th of September 2024, we formalised a Mutual Recognition of Membership Agreement with CIPD UK, marking a strategic partnership aimed at globalising HR practices and fostering a borderless HR community. This collaboration reflects the shared vision of CIPM and CIPD UK to develop HR professionals equipped with a future-oriented global mindset, enabling them to embrace change, diversity, and innovation. Together, both organisations are committed to empowering HR professionals to unlock human potential and drive business transformation.

Application Process for CIPD Members Joining CIPM:
- Visit the CIPM-CIPD Microsite: https://cipmnigeria.org/cipm-cipd/
- Applicants must complete and submit an online application form, detailing job history, academic qualification(s) and proof of CIPD membership.
- The CIPM HQ will verify the applicant’s CIPD membership status before submission to the Membership Committee for review.
- Qualified applicants will undergo a competency-based interview as outlined in the following criteria.
Conversion from Associate CIPD to Associate CIPM
- A 60-minute competency-based interview covering functional and behavioral competencies, based on the Body of Knowledge (BoK).
- The interviewers will complete a rating sheet, which will be validated by the Membership Committee.
- Final approval of recommended candidates will be granted by CIPM leadership.
- Approved candidates must complete training on Employment Laws in Nigeria.
- Induction ceremony for all approved candidates.
Costs to Applicants:
- Assessment Fee: N200,000 (£115)
- Training Fee: N150,000 (£85)
- Induction Fee: N136,000 (£80) (inclusive of three years’ annual membership fees)
- Annual Membership Fee: Applicable at the prevailing rate after the third year.
Conversion from Full Member CIPD to Full Member CIPM
- A 60-minute competency-based interview on functional and behavioral competencies, using the Book of Knowledge (BoK).
- The interviewers will complete a rating sheet, validated by the Membership Committee.
- Leadership approval of candidates recommended by the Membership Committee.
- Approved candidates will complete training on Employment Laws in Nigeria.
- Induction ceremony for all approved candidates.
Costs to Applicants:
- Assessment Fee: N200,000 (£115)
- Training Fee: N250,000 (£140)
- Induction Fee: N151,000 (£85) (inclusive of three years’ annual membership fees)
- Annual Membership Fee: Applicable at the prevailing rate after the third year.
Progression:
Once in CIPM membership, members will have the opportunity to progress their membership through CIPM’s regular upgrading processes.
CIPM Members’ Application Process and Eligibility for CIPD Membership
The application process for CIPM members to join CIPD involves downloading and submitting an application form from the CIPD website page https://www.cipd.org/en/membership/grades/cipm-agreement, along with an up-to-date CV and proof of CIPM membership. CIPM plays a role by authenticating the applicant’s information, verifying their financial status, and ensuring they hold a valid HR Practitioner’s Licence (HRPL) before final conversion into CIPD membership.
To be eligible for CIPD Membership as a CIPM Member, applicants must have the following:
- CIPM Membership Certificate (ACIPM, MCIPM, or FCIPM)
- Active HR Practitioner’s License (HRPL)
- Financially active status as of 2024 and in subsequent years of application.
